MTX awarded contract for Stanmore College

In March 2010, MTX were approached by Stanmore College to discuss their early project plans for developing a new four classroom extension block. After MTX successfully took the college through the planning application process which was granted early this month, Stanmore College last week awarded MTX the £500,000 design and build contract to construct the new classroom block.

The works, which commenced on site last week, will include the demolition of caretaker's accommodation to free space for the new highly specified extension which will be built using fast track modular construction methods.

Due for completion in November 2010, the building will have a revolutionary green roof which will provide fantastic drainage benefits whilst remaining aesthetically pleasing. A high quality finish will also be achieved on the external walls of the building using a combination of plastisol and cedar cladding to give it a modern feel whilst still satisfying the constraints of local planning regulations.

The construction of the new classroom will allow the college to increase its student capacity and subsequently increase learning potential for students within the area.
