After successfully being awarded the £4 million design and build contract to construct a new Modular Operating Theatre Complex for University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust, MTX are now well underway with the project after completing the groundworks and craning the 35 prefabricated building modules in position.
MTX has already completed a number of smaller building contracts at Leicester General Hospital and on winning this most recent contract MTX Commercial Director, David Hartley, comments “We are delighted to be working with the University Hospitals of Leicester again and are pleased to be demonstrating the latest product advancements in our Modular Construction techniques within this scheme”.
As one of the largest and busiest teaching hospitals in the United Kingdom, University Hospitals of Leicester provides high quality specialist care including cardiovascular, cancer, fertility, orthopaedic and renal services to patients across the country. Planned for completion in autumn 2010, the new theatre complex will provide the hospital with a suite of 4 new laminar flow operating theatres and a pre-operative assessment facility. The Trust project manager, Ian Currie comments “The delivery of the new facilities is an important part of Trust strategy and will help us to meet the current and future demand for elective orthopaedic surgical activity.”
