MTX completed the installation of new Mortuary Body Stores at Macclesfield General Hospital in March 2007.

MTX were quick in installing a temporary store on site to facilitate the Mortuary Department while construction works were undertaken on site. A fully enclosed walkway was also installed so the manoeuvre of bodies during collection and delivery times was not compromised.

The new facility consisted of two large 12 body fridges, one deep freeze 3 body freezer and two small 3 body fridges to allow for isolation, if required.

The existing body stores were demolished and contained ready for collection from site. Once this procedure had been carried out the area was fully sterilised.

Due to the short period of time we had to complete the works, MTX were quick to install first fix refrigeration pipework and electrics for the five rooms.

The full installation was installed adhering to both NHS specifications C10 and C10a.

All of the new rooms incorporate audio and visual alarms and link to a purpose built control panel situated in the adjacent plant room. Provision was made to link the system to the hospital BMS system via volt free contacts.

The facility also offers improved HASAW lifting and handling issues for the staff working within the department. New racking and body trays were positioned with this in mind, along with a new fully automated trolley.

The full installation was completed within a three week on site period, causing the client with minimal disruption.
