MTX are getting ready to kick start the New Year with a brand new project at Medway Maritime Hospital in Gillingham, Kent.

In June 2016 MTX were successful on the supply, installation and commissioning of a new build, offsite constructed extension to the existing Emergency Department. The scheme has been procured under P21+ with Integrated Health Projects as the contractor. The extension will be housed over three floors with the third floor containing new plant to serve the entire scheme. The accommodation at ground floor will consist of seven new resus bays along with a new isolation department, majors and CCU assessment bays.

Construction works will be carried out while the existing Emergency Department continues to operate. The design phase has just been completed with ground works commencing late January 2017. The works completed by MTX in an offsite fashion represent one of the first phases of the entire scheme. This has resulted in a significant reduction on the full programme to ensure that the Trust benefit from the facility in the earliest time possible. The project is due to be handed over to the Trust in Summer 2017.
