In June 2016 MTX were successful on the supply, installation and commissioning of a new build, off-site constructed extension to the existing Emergency Department at Medway Maritime Hospital in Gillingham, Kent.
The scheme has been procured under P21+ with IHP (Integrated Health Projects) as the contractor. Construction is being carried out whilst the existing Emergency Department continues to operate. The extension is over three floors with the third floor containing all new plant to serve the entire scheme. The accommodation at ground floor consists of seven new Resus bays along with a new Isolation Department, Majors and CDU (Clinical Decision Unit) assessment bays.
The project is currently in the design phase with a completion date expected of June 2017 for MTX’s scope of works. The works completed by MTX in an off-site fashion, represent one of the first phases on the entire scheme. This has resulted in a significant reduction on the full programme to ensure the Trust benefit from the facility in the earliest time possible. We are extremely excited to see this project develop over the next coming months and for its unveiling in summer 2017.
