Since January 2013 MTX have been working for Wrightington, Wigan and Leigh NHS Foundation Trust to install two new modular operating theatres at Wrightington Hospital to provide them with additional theatre capacity to help further reduce waiting times for Orthopaedic procedures.
Now in week 17 of the 22 week programme MTX is well on target for completing the installation of both operating theatres on time, with the project team reporting on a smooth construction programme so far. Both prefabricated buildings have been delivered to site and are in position, landscaping to both sites is finished and the first and second fix M&E services are complete for both theatres.
Talking of the new theatres Chris Knights, WWL Project Director, said: “This is excellent news for our orthopaedic patients; as well as two additional modern, state-of-the-art theatres that will further improve patient experience, the additional capacity will allow us to treat 2,500 more patients per year and will significantly reduce inpatient waiting times”.
