Royal Bolton Hospital Modular A&E Extension

Utilising modern methods of construction we designed, constructed and commissioned 7 additional beds for the A&E department.

The Requirements

Royal Bolton Hospital NHS Foundation Trust had an urgent requirement for an extension to their current A&E department. MTX produced the works on behalf of John Turners contractors.

The Solution

MTX produced a design for a single storey modular building which abutted up to the front of the existing A&E department. Works began with the production of 7no volumetric modules which were quickly progressed through one of our quality controlled factories. Once delivered to site, the modules were installed in just 1 day.

The new facility comprises of 7 minor treatment rooms, waiting area, reception desk, staff offices and toilets. Internally it has been finished to the highest standard and utilises the latest in healthcare technology and equipment.

The external rooftop, which is the location for the plant, is screened by a functional brie solei louvres which also enhances the architectural appearance of the building.

Main Considerations

Due to the increasing demand on the current A&E department, the Trust required the extension to be completed in the quickest time possible. To accomplish this demanding programme, MTX fast-tracked the works. To ensure the finishes were completed as quickly as possible, MTX installed brick slips for the external elevational treatment.
