MTX have commenced works at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital – Stanmore to provide a further ultra clean operating theatre.
The on site programme which includes a piled foundation solution to accommodate four new modules in an overall period of just 16 weeks.
The new bespoke theatre suite will be located partly in the existing hospital accommodation and partly within new modules providing an overall total area of 150m² including a first floor plant room.
An existing sterile store will be stripped out and floor construction upgraded to accommodate the main operating theatre with the gable end of the existing building also removed to allow extension into the new modular accommodation. New steelwork supports will be installed to support a new ultra clean canopy which will be fed from a dedicated AHU located within the new first floor plantroom.
Before groundworks could commence we carried out a number of enabling works including the relocation of the existing mains electrical switchboard and external DX refrigeration units. All these works were carried out within a 5 day period to minimise any theatre shut down.
The new theatre suite will be provided with IPS / UPS equipment , touch screen surgeons panel, UCZ and LED HD camera ready operating lamp.
MTX are often involved in the provision of projects that require a high level of design coordination and regularly complete projects that challenges the boundaries of modular construction.
