In February 2011 MTX completed the £765,000 design and build contract to install a new two storey modular office block for Mersey Care NHS Foundation Trust.
After being approached with detailed plans for the new building back in March 2010 MTX were finally awarded the contract and started on site at Scott Clinic the following October. Due to the proposed location of the new 500m² modular building, one of the first things MTX were contracted to do was to build an alternative temporary car park for staff parking and a new pedestrian footpath. MTX were then able to commence groundworks on the original car park where the modular office block would be -positioned.
The new two storey modular building has been constructed out of 16 building modules which were all pre-manufactured offsite in a quality controlled factory environment and then craned into position during the beginning of December. Unfortunately due to the timing of the building project, one of the difficulties this project team faced was the incredibly cold and heavy snow conditions over the winter period. This inclement weather -unfortunately delayed the lift by one week however the project was still completed on time and within budget in just 4 months which highlights one of the many benefits of using offsite -construction methods.
The completed building which comprises offices, conference facilities, changing and staff areas has been finished, as per the clients’ specification, to a relatively basic standard internally. Externally however the new facility features a combination of eternet weather board which requires no maintenance and rendered finish and has large full height feature windows which provide great natural light to the new building.
