MTX is delighted to announce they’ve been awarded a £750,000 contract, working under Principal Contractor Laing O’rourke, to supply and install a Single Operating Theatre Suite at Abergele Hospital.
The operating theatre installation forms part of a larger £5.6million scheme recently approved by the Welsh Assembly Government to remove asbestos from Ysbyty Glan Clwyd. When the hospital was built in the late 1970s asbestos use was commonplace as a fire retardant coating on structural steelwork. This scheme has been set up to remove all asbestos through a number of phases over the next 7 years with the installation of MTX’s Modular Operating Theatre forming a part of the initial phase of the overall scheme.
The modular theatre installation, which will be located at ground floor level is due for completion at the end of October 2011 and also includes the delivery of a three bed recovery bay, offices and staff rest rooms.
