Job Win: Royal Wolverhampton Hospitals NHS Trust

By News

MTX is proud to have been awarded the £2million Design & Build contract to install a twin operating Theatre Suite for the Royal Wolverhampton Hospitals NHS Trust.

The Trust identified their requirement for additional theatre capacity after it experienced a large increase in workload, a rise which is expected to continue to increase over the next 5 years. To ensure their rapid building requirements were met, and in order to realize their investment more quickly, the Trust produced plans to redevelop their existing site using fast track modular building methods and MTX were invited to tender for the project earlier this year.

The new theatres, which are expected to be completed in the first week in April 2011, will be built using the latest modular construction methods and will feature a unique external finish made up of a galvanised steel composite panelling system as per the Trusts specification.

MTX are due to start on site in the first week in January 2011 with a programmed completion date of just 13 weeks later. Along with the Design & Build contract to supply the Trust with the additional theatres, which will take their total number of theatres to 12, MTX are also contracted to provide a separate recovery area along with undertaking significant Mechanical & Electrical infrastructure works as part of the sites redevelopment.

Job Win: MTX to install two Temporary Operating Theatres at the Countess of Chester Hospital

By News

MTX were recently awarded the contract to supply and install two temporary operating theatres for the Countess of Chester NHS Foundation Trust; a 580 bed, single site General Hospital located on the outskirts of Chester providing a range of medical services to more than 425,000 patients per year from an area covering Western Cheshire, Ellesmere Port, Neston and North Wales.

Our client, who originally looked at hiring the twin theatres in order to quickly meet their requirements, approached MTX earlier this year to discuss the feasibility of the project and various options. They subsequently decided that purchasing the twin theatre unit from MTX and then selling them on at a later date for a substantial value would be the most cost effective solution.

Among many of their achievements, the Countess of Chester Hospital is proud to have treated 18,000 (4.4%) more patients compared to the previous year and they aim to continue to reduce waiting times for both English and Welsh residents with the installation of these two new Operating Theatres.

The new MTX Temporary Twin Operating Theatre, which will be situated on an existing car park, will be linked into the hospital building via a link way which will run across an embankment into the existing first floor hospital corridor.

The project is due to start on site in the next couple of weeks, with works to be carried out over a speedy 18 week program, with an expected completion date of 21st October 2010.
